The Rudder Angle Monitor has been designed to give an easily recognisable visual display of the rudder position. It uses a series of lights set in a horseshoe shape to indicate the current rudder angle, red lights to port and green to starboard. The real power of this device is that it is user programmable and this allows the value of each light to be pre-determined by the operator according to his needs. For example, for local work a scale of one to two degrees would be adequate, but for the long distance navigator requiring a high level of accuracy, each light might be calibrated to represent just one half of a degree. When the rudder offset required to hold a particular heading has been established with this level of accuracy, auto pilot systems can be used with much greater precision. The sender has been thoroughly tested under salt water conditions evidencing the devices ability to last years in the severest maritime environment and can be used with all steering systems, including outboard and sterndrive motors.

Rudder
angle indicators generally show the rudder angle to a maximum of 40-50
degrees. This unit indicates the rudder position to a fraction of
a degree. The Rudder Angle Monitor is user adjustable from 5 to 90
degrees, down to a half an inch per lit L.E.D. (i.e. two and a half
inches full screen). The instrument carries a full replacement 12
months warranty.
